First Grade Arrival/Dismissal Doors
With the rainy weather this week, we noticed how muddy and slippery the pathway around the gym to the arrival and dismissal doors for first grade has become. In the event that there is snow or ice during winter, we are concerned about student safety. Starting on Monday, October 18, we will switch the first-grade arrival/dismissal doors to the entrance off Madison by the music room. Parents, please know that this door will not be staffed until 8:30 and our priority is keeping all of the children safe. We ask that the first-grade students do not line up before 8:30 each morning. On days your child is a car rider, he/she will enter the school using the doors by the playground. Car riders will not walk around to the front of the building for arrival.

Car Rider Dismissal
Beginning on Monday, October 18, all afternoon car riders will be dismissed from the building together. Children will be asked to stand on one of the red dots along the sidewalk to wait for their car. Please continue to post your car rider number with the family name. This will assist staff with helping identify the correct car for students.

Halloween at Madison – Friday, October 29
All festivities will begin after the second lunch and recess have ended. Morning kindergarten students are invited to wear their costumes in the morning and join us back at school at 12:50 pm to participate in the school parade. They must be signed in and out at the office. Once the parade ends please come to the office foyer to pick up your kindergartner.

First through fifth-grade students are encouraged to go home for lunch so they can change into their costumes. We will have lunchroom supervisors available for students who are not able to go home to ensure students are able to eat and change into their costumes.

Parade: The Halloween Parade will begin at approximately 1:00 p.m. Please make every effort to get your child(ren) back to school promptly by 11:50 for first, second and fourth graders and 12:40 for third and fifth graders, as the parade will not begin until all student attendance has been taken by the teachers. We exit the west exterior entrance from the gymnasium using the sidewalk to walk around the path going behind the Community House, and proceed to the sidewalk along our parking lot, around to the front of the school and enter by the kindergarten and second-grade doors. In the event of inclement weather, we will notify you that morning of any changes.

Parties: The classroom parties will follow the parade and will be run by the classroom teachers. The PTO has put together party activities for each grade level. We know it will not be the same without all of our amazing volunteers; however, we are excited that the children can participate in a party this year.

Costumes: Please help us ensure a fun and festive day by helping your child(ren) select and wear costumes that are appropriate for school. We ask that students not wear costumes that are gruesome, have weapons, or include full face masks which hinder visibility.
