Have a wonderful Spring Break – looking forward to seeing everyone back on April 1st!
Spring Testing Update – IAR Begins April 8th (Grades 3-5)
The IAR (Illinois Assessment of Readiness) is a computer-based assessment aligned to the Common Core State Standards and will be administered to students in grades 3-5. Each grade level will take a total of eight units of testing, which will include 2 units of English Language Arts (ELA) and 3 units of math. Specific grade level testing times are listed below and are also posted on our Madison School calendar.
The IAR is very similar to the PARCC assessment that students took last year, only slightly shorter. The Illinois Assessment of Readiness measures the same Illinois Learning Standards and includes the same high-quality test questions that teachers and students have become familiar with over the past several years. Our students should feel confident in taking the Illinois Assessment of Readiness, even with the new test name and new look.
As a parent, please help support your child for IAR testing by making sure he/she gets a good night’s sleep, eats a healthy breakfast, and comes prepared for the testing. Our teachers will take a comfortable approach to the testing so as to not create any undue stress on our students. You can simply remind your child to do his/her best. If possible, please avoid any scheduling and doctors appointments, etc. during the scheduled testing. Students not present during scheduled testing times or who will arrive after testing begins will need to be pulled from class to make up testing before the window closes in April.
– iPads, iPad chargers, and keyboards:
Please make sure your child has these items. Students will keep their iPads and iPad chargers at school during testing.
Please make sure students bring their headphones with them on testing days.
