Wilma Rudolph Presentation – February 24
We are very pleased to announce a special event for K-5 students in D181, occurring on Wednesday, February 24 during all hybrid and remote classes.
We will be hosting a virtual one-woman show about Wilma Rudolph, the first woman to win three Olympic Gold Medals in Track (Rome 1960). Wilma’s story highlights her strength and courage in overcoming polio, poverty, and discrimination as an African-American woman. Wilma became a coach and a mentor to children throughout the US, encouraging them to “Never underestimate the power of dreams; the potential for greatness lives within each of you.”
We are grateful that the D181 Foundation has donated the cost of this in-class virtual presentation for all seven elementary schools. Because we haven’t had any traditional assemblies this year, we hope that your child/ren will come home excited to share information and excitement about the story of Wilma Rudolph.
Fifth Grade- Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test
During the week of March 1, Madison School will be administering the Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test (IAAT) to all fifth grade hybrid and remote students. The IAAT is group-administered and will take approximately 50 minutes to complete.
The Iowa Algebra Aptitude Test is a criterion-referenced assessment that evaluates a student’s ability and readiness for success in algebraic concepts. IAAT is one data point that is used when determining math placement decisions for students entering 6th grade. The IAAT is scored externally and your child’s score will be shared with you in the spring once the results are received.
