Principal’s Corner – Weekly Update

Valentine’s Day at Madison
This February, we look forward to spreading some cheer around Madison School by safely sharing valentines with our classmates. If you choose to participate, we ask that you please send your child to school with valentines for their entire class on Monday, February 8. On Tuesday, February 9, your child will be able to distribute valentines to a bag for each of their classmates. The bags will be held in quarantine until Friday, February 12, when they will be sent home with your child. Please do not include any food or candy with your child’s valentines.
We look forward to celebrating Valentine’s Day with your child in a safe and healthy manner!

Madison Spelling Bee – Reminder for 3rd-5th Grade Families – Deadline to sign up is February 2
This year, the Scripps National Spelling Bee has developed an online testing platform that will allow Madison School to host a school spelling bee program, whether your children are learning in classrooms or remotely from your homes.

On Thursday, February 4, we will hold one level of competition through online spelling tests. If your child is interested in participating, the first step to spelling bee participation is for you to register for the Scripps National Spelling Bee’s online testing platform.

If you have already registered in the online testing platform for another child, you can log in to your account and add an additional child to that same parent account. There is no need to register a different email address for each child in your household. I encourage you to watch this video tutorial that will walk you through the registration process.

Once you have registered, you will receive a follow up email from Donna Rusick ( Please mark this email as safe to ensure it does not end up in your spam.

The two overall students with the highest scores will move on to compete at the District 181 spelling bee, which will be held on Tuesday, February 9 at 4:30pm. More information will be provided to the winners after the school bee is complete.
