For the past month, the Kids Care Club students have been hard at work on our three big initiatives for the first half of the school year – the book, toiletry and Halloween candy drives. To say we are BLOWN AWAY with the generosity of the Madison community would be an understatement!!
1. Our goal for the book drive was to collect enough preschool aged books to make small gift bags for the children of Educare and to donate the remaining to Bernie’s Book Bank. We are thrilled to announce that we collected OVER 2,000 books! We gave 850 early-reader books to Educare (with each child receiving seven books) and over 1,000 to Bernie’s for at-risk children. Please click for more information on Educare and Bernie’s Book Bank.
2. We collected three overflowing boxes of travel-sized toiletries to donate to the Pillars Community Health Centers of LaGrange for their healthcare incentive program for low-income families. Click here for more information.
3. From our Halloween candy collection we made goodie bags for the participants of the Madison Veteran’s Day assembly AND brought two trunk loads of candy to a local organization to send overseas for our troops.
Thank you for your generous donations to help us make a difference in other’s lives. What a way to kick-off the holiday season!
With overwhelming gratitude,
The Kids Care Club Students & Co-Chairs (Jen Baskel, Erin Sexton and Jennifer Weil)
